Separate accommodation, cave tours and reserve conditions when planning a Gippsland stay.

Parks Victoria describes the Fairy and Royal Cave tours as involving steps and sections with constrained or uneven passage. Consider the whole group’s comfort with these conditions and ask the operator about any specific access requirements. Do this before building the rest of the day around a tour. Shoes, temperature and the meeting point are practical questions to check in current tour instructions.
Keep the accommodation choice separate
The official accommodation page describes Caves House as a historic house associated with the Moon family. Its domestic setting offers a different kind of stay from a campsite. Check the current booking page for availability, inclusions and rules, particularly where older travel articles refer to facilities affected by fire or flood. Do not assume a pet rule for one accommodation option applies throughout the reserve.
Build slack into the day
Aim to arrive with time to find the meeting point and use facilities, rather than treating the published tour start as your parking time. Avoid putting a second fixed booking immediately after the tour. A quiet meal and time outdoors may be enough. If a tour is cancelled or unsuitable, consult the operator about alternatives rather than improvising access to closed areas.
